If you witness a crash, please stop and render aid unless help is already at the scene. If you saw an accident happen, provide your name and contact information to everyone involved, not only the investigating officer.

In a serious 18-wheeler crash, the truck driver may be the only person physically able to give a statement at the scene. Unfortunately, some drivers may not tell the truth, especially when they or their employers may be at fault.

A neutral witness who provides contact information to both parties can encourage everyone to be honest. I know because I have done this several times and have never been contacted by either party.
